The selection process for the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust in Ayodhya has reached its final stage. A two-day interview round conducted within the Ram temple complex on August 11 and August 12 has concluded. Along with proven administrative experience, the selection criteria placed strong emphasis on candidates' alignment with Hindu traditions, personal lifestyle, and faith in Lord Ram. The selection committee will now recommend a panel of three names, from which the Trust will announce the final appointment.
From 5,585 Applicants to 16 Final Interviewees
The recruitment process drew widespread interest, receiving a total of 5,585 applications nationwide. Out of these, 3,877 individuals filled out the Google Form and submitted their detailed CVs. Following initial screening, 1,580 candidates were shortlisted, after which 111 candidates were invited for online interaction. Ultimately, 16 candidates aged between 50 and 70 years were called for in-person interviews over two days in Ayodhya. The interviewees included former Indian Army officers, retired IAS and IPS officers, and experienced corporate professionals.
Detailed Inquiries into Faith, Habits, and Customs
During the interaction and interview rounds, candidates were asked specific questions regarding their daily lifestyle and adherence to religious traditions. Evaluators sought to ensure that the candidate possesses unwavering faith in Hinduism and Lord Ram. Questions covered whether the candidates follow a vegetarian diet, abstain from alcohol, wear the sacred thread (janeu), and are comfortable dressing in accordance with traditional Hindu customs.
Leadership Track Record and Institutional Vision
Beyond personal practices, the board assessed the operational and leadership capacities of each candidate. Applicants were asked about the size of the workforce they had previously managed during their careers. The panel also inquired whether the candidates had prior experience working with social organizations, religious institutions, or temples, including the exact number of years served. Candidates were further asked to present their strategic vision, operational plan, and constructive suggestions for the management of the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust.
Three-Member Panel to Recommend Final Candidates
To oversee the recruitment, the Trust established a dedicated selection committee comprising retired Justice Pramod Kohli, retired Lieutenant General VK Chaturvedi, and nuclear scientist Suresh Haware. According to committee member Suresh Haware, the panel will evaluate the interview performances and submit three candidate names to the Trust. The Trust will subsequently select and officially announce the new CEO from this three-person panel.
