The holy town of Chitrakoot witnessed a vibrant display of faith and devotion on the second Monday of the auspicious Shravan month. A massive wave of Shiva devotees thronged the revered Paleshwar Nath temple, situated atop the hills of the Pahari town, right from the early morning hours, creating an atmosphere charged with spiritual fervor.
Worshippers began arriving at the shrine as early as four in the morning to catch a glimpse of Lord Shiva and offer holy water. The entire temple premises and surrounding areas echoed with resonant chants of Har Har Mahadev and Bam Bam Bhole. Devotees stood patiently in long queues, waiting for their turn to perform the ritualistic ablution of the deity.
Mohit Das, a priest at the Chitrakoot temple, explained that worshipping Lord Shiva holds profound religious significance during the month of Shravan. Consequently, long lines of worshippers were seen at the Paleshwar Nath temple since dawn on this second Monday. A large number of Shiva devotees arrived not only from the immediate township but also from neighboring rural areas to seek the blessings of Baba Paleshwar Nath.
Visitors performed rituals following traditional rites, offering water, milk, bel leaves, datura, flowers, and other sacred items to the Shivling. Amid continuous devotional chants, the entire temple complex was immersed in a deeply spiritual ambiance, and the stream of devotees performing holy water offerings continued unabated.
Perched high on the hills of the Pahari town, this prominent Shiva temple serves as a central point of faith for lakhs of people. From government officials to residents from across the Chitrakoot district and nearby regions, people regularly visit to offer prayers, leading to substantial crowds and a festive fair-like atmosphere throughout the Shravan season.
In response to the large gathering anticipated during the Shravan fair, the Chitrakoot district administration deployed adequate police security measures. These arrangements were put in place to ensure that pilgrims face no difficulties during darshan and water offerings, allowing everyone to complete their worship smoothly within the temple premises.
As the day progressed, the number of worshippers visiting the Shiva temple continued to swell steadily. Believers hold a strong faith that offering prayers to Baba during the sacred month of Shravan fulfills all earnest desires, prompting devotees to perform the ritual ablutions and offer floral garlands with unwavering devotion.
