Amidst the ongoing Shravani Mela in Bihar's Munger district, a stunning blend of deep devotion and natural beauty is capturing the hearts of thousands of Kawadias. Situated at the tail end of the roughly twenty-six-kilometer-long unpaved Kawadiya path near the Munger-Banka border, the Kumarsar River has emerged as a special center of attraction for pilgrims these days. Wading through the flowing stream, devotees are steadily making their way toward Baba Baidyanath Dham. As the pilgrims cross this river, all their exhaustion from the long journey melts away, leaving them deeply refreshed, while several devotees pause to take a ritual bath before moving forward.
Resonating Chants of Bol Bam Along the Path
Setting out on a journey to Baba Baidyanath Dham carrying holy Ganges water from Sultanganj, the pilgrims begin to shed their fatigue the moment their steps approach the Kumarsar River. Bearing colorful kawads on their shoulders and the chant of Bol Bam on their lips, the entire route echoes with spiritual fervor. Upon stepping into the cool river water, many Kawadias pause for a while to bathe and experience much-needed physical relief.

At present, the water level in the Kumarsar River hovers around one to two and a half feet. This manageable depth allows pilgrims to cross the river with ease. While some worshippers take a dip in the stream, many others capture memorable moments of their spiritual journey on camera alongside their companions. After walking long distances on foot, the cool current acts as a natural therapy, soothing the tired feet of the travelers.
Administration Monitors Water Levels Closely
Although the river's water level had risen slightly over the past couple of days, the local administration maintains constant vigilance. In the event of a significant rise in water levels, authorities redirect pilgrims away from the river route and across the bridge to ensure safe passage. Kawadias noted that wading through the Kumarsar River is one of the most delightful experiences of their pilgrimage. Bathing in the water washes away physical tiredness and instills fresh enthusiasm to catch a glimpse of Lord Shiva.

Several pilgrims shared that after walking all day, the cool stream provides a few moments of profound peace. Adequate drinking water, security, and other essential amenities have been well-maintained, saving them from any major hardships.
