Among these prominent sites is the revered Phool Dak Baba temple located in the Jehanabad district. Situated in the North Daulatpur area within the district headquarters, this temple commands profound reverence and attracts massive crowds throughout the year.
A Major Hub of Faith and Annual Gatherings
Local residents firmly believe that the divine presence manifests directly at this sacred spot, drawing continuous streams of worshippers. A massive fair takes place here every year on January 12, pulling in roughly 50,000 devotees not just from various parts of Bihar, but also from neighboring states like Jharkhand, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh. Despite the biting winter chill, the enthusiasm among the pilgrims remains remarkably high. The temple sanctum houses Phool Dak Baba and Dakini Mai, and the traditional practice of animal sacrifice is observed here as part of the rituals.

The community holds a steadfast belief that true justice is delivered at this shrine and every sincere prayer offered here is granted. Ravi Shankar Chauhan, the president of the temple committee, shared that January 12 marks the biggest festival of the year for their village, filling the entire region with a festive atmosphere. Households undergo thorough cleaning ahead of the event because villagers believe that the Baba himself visits every home. The divine energy at the shrine ensures that anyone who presents themselves with a pure heart sees their wishes fulfilled.
The Fascinating and Mysterious Origins of the Shrine
An intriguing and astonishing background story is tied to the establishment of this temple. According to Vinod Singh, the treasurer of the temple committee, the original shrine of Dak Baba in North Daulatpur consisted merely of a small earthen mound surrounded by neglected land with very few residential houses nearby. Local farmers would often stack their harvested vegetables around the area, leading to frequent disputes whenever the produce got displaced. Soon after, stones and pebbles began raining down on nearby homes mysteriously, leaving the villagers bewildered as the source of the projectiles remained unknown.
The mystery deepened when a local resident made a remark, following which a stack of harvested paddy belonging to him spontaneously caught fire. Disturbed by these unusual occurrences, the villagers summoned a Brahmin priest to interpret the events. Upon assessing the situation, the priest declared that the disturbances were caused by a celestial entity. Immediately after his pronouncement, a letter emerged directly from the ground, astonishing everyone present. The written message explicitly stated that the entity was not a wandering spirit, but Phool Dak Baba, and went on to prescribe the exact manner in which he desired to be worshipped, marking the beginning of regular rituals at the site.
