It was nearly 268 years ago that the International Varishta Ramsnehi Sampraday was established on this hallowed ground. Founder Adi Acharya Dariyav Maharaj initiated this spiritual lineage after absorbing profound divine knowledge from his respected guru, Premdas Maharaj. Rooted in self-knowledge, human welfare, and unyielding devotion to Lord Ram, this movement has grown far beyond its regional origins in Rajasthan to touch the lives of thousands of devotees across India and abroad.
A Harmonious Blend of Ram Devotion and Krishna Janmashtami
A distinctive feature of Ren Dham is the seamless integration of continuous devotion to Lord Ram alongside vibrant celebrations marking the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. This tradition stems from a remarkable spiritual coincidence. Both the founder, Adi Acharya Dariyav Maharaj, and former Peethadhiswar Acharya Dr. Harinarayan Shastri were born on the auspicious day of Krishna Janmashtami. Consequently, Janmashtami at Ren Dham is celebrated not merely as a festival, but as a grand annual tribute to the revered lineage of spiritual masters.
The Sacred Floating Brick at Lakhasagar Sarovar
Among the most revered sites within Ren Dham is Lakhasagar Sarovar, a holy water reservoir deeply tied to the order's history. According to long-standing belief, a historical brick connected to the rigorous penance of Adi Acharya Dariyav Maharaj remains visibly floating on the surface of the water today. Thousands of pilgrims from various Indian states as well as foreign nations travel to Ren each year to witness this sight and pay homage at the sacred site of penance. For the local community and visiting devotees, this phenomenon stands as a living symbol of spiritual discipline and divine devotion.
Institutional Legacy: 150 Ramdwaras and 170 Traveling Monks
Following the Mahaprayan of Adi Acharya Dariyav Maharaj, the sacred seat of Ren Dham has been stewarded by eight distinguished Peethacharyas across successive generations. At present, Peethadhiswar Acharya Sajjanram Maharaj presides as the ninth head of this historic spiritual throne. Under the seat's spiritual governance, approximately 150 Ramdwaras are currently operational throughout Rajasthan and across the country. Additionally, about 170 dedicated saints actively travel to propagate Ramnam and the teachings contained in Dariyav Vani.
Spiritual Practices and Annual Pilgrimage Fairs
The Ramsnehi tradition continues to guide thousands of practitioners along the path of Ashtanga Yoga, self-realization, and selfless devotion. The pilgrimage center hosts three major annual fairs on the auspicious occasions of Chaitra Purnima, Bhadra Purnima, and Margashirsha Purnima. During each of these three grand gatherings, more than 10,000 devotees converge at Ren Dham to participate in collective prayers and spiritual discourses, reinforcing the enduring strength of India's ancient guru-disciple tradition.
