Double Silver Success on the Second Day
India opened its medal account on Sunday during the second day of competition courtesy of an outstanding individual effort from shooter Elavenil Valarivan. The 27-year-old Valarivan, who had missed out on podium finishes in her previous two Asian Games appearances, clinched silver in the women's 10m air rifle individual event with a total score of 252.4 points. She finished a mere 0.6 points behind Japan's Hinata Taichi, who took the gold medal. Earlier, Valarivan had also secured a second-place finish in the women's team event alongside Sonam Uttam Maskar and debutant Vidarsa Vinod, earning India another silver medal.
Day 3 Action at the Shooting Range
Action commenced early at the shooting range on day three with crucial qualification fixtures. At 6:15 AM, Himanshu Dhillon, Parth Rakesh Mane, and Rudrankksh Balasaheb Patil took the stage in the men's 10m air rifle individual qualification. The shotgun range also witnessed the opening day of qualifications starting at 6:30 AM. Parinaaz Dhaliwal, Raiza Dhillon, and Maheshwari Chauhan are competing in the women's skeet individual qualification day one, while Mairaj Ahmad Khan, Anantjeet Singh Naruka, and Bhavtegh Singh Gill represent the nation in the men's skeet individual qualification day one.
India Faces Pakistan in Table Tennis Group F
In table tennis, high-profile Group F clashes pit India against arch-rival Pakistan. The women's team encounter between India and Pakistan was scheduled for 6:30 AM, while the men's team Group F match between the two sides is set for 3:30 PM. Elsewhere in team table tennis, the men's team opening round fixture features India against Bangladesh at 11:30 AM.
Schedule Across the Swimming Pool
Indian swimmers face a packed morning in the pool across multiple heats. Rishabh Das and Srihari Nataraj competed in heat two of the men's 50m backstroke at 6:32 AM. In the men's 50m freestyle, Akash Mani raced in heat two at 6:46 AM, followed by Heer Gitesh Shah in heat four at 6:50 AM. Danush Suresh took part in heat two of the men's 100m breaststroke at 7:10 AM. Later at 7:44 AM, heat two of the men's 4x200m freestyle relay brought together teams from India, Qatar, Malaysia, China, Japan, and Thailand.
Mixed Doubles, Combat Sports, and Team Clashes
In mixed doubles Group B, the pairing of Aadhya Tiwari and Jai Meena is tackling three scheduled matches. They took on Cambodia's Chao Veasna and Khun Chanroseka at 5:30 AM, Mongolia's Bud Nyamdorj and Enkhkhuslen Ganbaatar at 6:30 AM, and South Korea's Kim Yeon-hwa and Park Je-kyu at 7:30 AM. In sepaktakraw, the men's team regu preliminary Group B saw India face Japan at 5:30 AM. In the women's traditional 60kg division, Suchika Tariyal went up against Singapore's Teo Hui Hoon at 8:30 AM.
