A major milestone has been registered in the sports landscape of Rajasthan as Kota athlete Divyanshi earned selection into the Indian national Wushu squad for the upcoming 2026 Asian Games. Her inclusion marks a historic moment, making her the very first Wushu competitor from the state of Rajasthan to qualify for this continental event in the 36-year history of Wushu at the Asian Games. The prestigious tournament is slated to take place in Japan from September 22 to October 4, where Divyanshi will represent India on the international fighting mat. To ensure top performance on this grand platform, she is currently undergoing a relentless daily training schedule spanning nearly 8 hours, driven by a firm determination to secure a gold medal and raise the national flag high.
Grueling Training Schedule and Technical Guidance
Reaching elite athletic performance requires relentless dedication, and Divyanshi's daily schedule reflects extraordinary discipline. She devotes approximately 8 hours every day to training, dividing her time equally between two intensive sessions on the field. Her morning session spans 4 hours of heavy physical conditioning and combat drills, followed by another 4-hour technical training session in the evening. Maintaining consistent form requires managing multiple challenges, including strict weight management to stay within her specific competition weight category. Additionally, staying free from injuries while keeping her body at peak physical condition during competitive preparation remains a top priority throughout her daily regimen.
Divyanshi attributes a significant portion of her athletic evolution to her coach, Ashok Kumar Gautam. According to her, Coach Gautam closely monitors every technical detail and minor movement of her play, offering crucial tactical feedback while keeping her motivated through high-pressure scenarios. His continuous guidance has been pivotal in refining her technical skills and building the resilience required for international combat sports.
A Stellar Record in National and International Arenas
Divyanshi enters the Asian Games stage backed by a formidable track record of victory across different combat disciplines. In domestic competitions, she has demonstrated overwhelming dominance by winning 12 Gold medals across various Wushu National Championships. Her athletic prowess extends beyond Wushu, as she has also proven her skills in boxing, securing 2 National Silver medals in the sport.
Her competitive competence has been tested against international opponents as well. Divyanshi earned a prestigious Bronze medal at the World Championship, followed by a Silver medal performance at a prominent international tournament hosted in China. Drawing from these competitive experiences on global platforms, she is now focusing all her efforts on converting past international success into a top-podium finish at the upcoming games in Japan.
Meeting Lok Sabha Speaker and the Parent-Inspired Gold Goal
On Sunday, Divyanshi met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla in a formal interactive meeting. Speaker Om Birla extended his warm wishes and blessings to the young martial artist for her upcoming international campaign, expressing confidence that her dedication would lead to an outstanding performance for the country. The meeting highlighted the growing recognition of her historical achievement within regional and national sporting circles.
While many athletes view participating in the Asian Games as a major end goal, Divyanshi remains single-mindedly focused on the highest honor. She credits her parents for shaping this intense winner's mindset. Following her selection announcement, her parents advised her that while many competitors return with silver or bronze medals, true distinction and lasting identity are forged only through winning a gold medal. Deeply inspired by their words, she transformed this advice into her main motivation, establishing a gold medal win in Japan as her singular objective.
Appealing to Society for Daughter Empowerment Through Sports
As she steps into the final phases of her preparation, Divyanshi has appealed to citizens across the country for their earnest prayers and support. Beyond her personal competitive goals, she strongly advocates for systemic changes in how society views women's participation in combat sports. She urged parents across the nation to encourage their daughters to actively take up martial arts like Wushu alongside other athletic pursuits.
Highlighting the broader social benefits of combat sports, Divyanshi emphasized that participation in Wushu does not merely build physical strength, but also instills immense self-confidence in young women while providing them with essential self-defense capabilities for daily life. Her journey stands as an inspiring narrative for young female athletes across Rajasthan and India.
