Conversely, the nation's fastest sprinter Gurindervir Singh faced disappointment on the track. Clocking 10.39 seconds in the sixth heat of the 100-meter sprint, he placed ninth in that round. To qualify for the next stage, athletes needed to finish within the top 17. Malaysia's Muhammad Aznil bin Bidin set a Commonwealth Games record by lifting a total of 299kg to secure the gold medal, while Papua New Guinea's Morea Baru earned the bronze with a total lift of 282kg.
