To encourage athletes at the national and international levels, central and state governments provide government jobs through the sports quota. Governments periodically update the list of sports that fall under the sports quota. Currently, a total of 65 sports are included in the central government's sports quota. The sports world is constantly evolving, with many new disciplines being included at the international level and in the Olympics. For example, sports include climbing, skateboarding, surfing, and breaking. Therefore, it is very important for athletes to know which games are recognized under the central sports quota and which ones are not yet included.
Olympic Sports Not Included in the Quota
There are some Olympic sports that are part of the Olympics but do not appear in the central government's general sports quota game list. These include sports such as sports climbing, surfing, skateboarding, and breaking. All four of these were present at the Paris 2024 Olympics; breaking participated for the first time, while sports climbing, skateboarding, and surfing had previously been included at Tokyo 2020 as well.
