Ranchi resident Anita, aged 55, has shown that passion can be converted into a thriving venture at any stage of life. Having practiced chanting with a rosary for the past 20 years, she has developed the rare ability to paint with one hand while holding her prayer beads in the other. Intricate Craftsmanship Using Glass and Wood
Among her primary creations are traditional jharokhas crafted from wood and glass, featuring intricate glass inlay work. She also creates specialized Shrinath paintings assembled entirely from tiny glass fragments. To maintain natural authenticity, she incorporates natural colors into her art and completes every finishing detail strictly by hand. Creating each individual piece requires dedicated handiwork lasting 3 to 4 hours.
From Personal Hobby to Inter-State Commercial Demand
Although Anita spent 20 years creating these artistic items, she initially lacked the confidence to share her creations publicly. Today, she fully embraces her talent and operates it as a structured commercial business. Her work has gained widespread appreciation, particularly among affluent art lovers, with demand extending beyond local districts into neighboring states. Each painting commands a price ranging between Rs 5,000 and Rs 10,000. Due to a steady stream of orders, she manages a tight schedule, maintaining her daily rosary prayers simultaneously alongside her art production.
