After failing to land an IT job, Nagendra Sai Lomada won 13 government job offers in a single year

After Covid-19 derailed his IT career plans, IIT Kharagpur graduate Nagendra Sai Lomada from Andhra Pradesh turned to government exams and landed 13 central government job offers within a single year in 2025.

At 29, Nagendra Sai Lomada from Raja Reddy Street in Andhra Pradesh's Kadapa district has become a template for anyone who keeps failing but refuses to quit. He studied Industrial and Systems Engineering at IIT Kharagpur, earning an integrated BTech-MTech degree, but his biggest achievement came after graduation, when in 2025 he collected offer letters for 13 different central government jobs within a single year.

A pandemic setback after growing up in a disciplined household

Nagendra Sai's father, Ashwani Kumar, is a retired APSRTC officer, while his mother, Rajarajeshwari, works as a school teacher. A bright student since childhood, he went on to complete a five-year integrated degree at IIT Kharagpur. His original plan was to build a career in the IT industry, but just as he was preparing for campus placements, the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted hiring across the country. That derailed his IT ambitions, and to find stability, he decided in June 2022 to start preparing for government job examinations instead.

Turning repeated failures into a sharper strategy

The path was not smooth at first. In 2023, he missed selection in an SSC exam by a narrow margin because of the normalization process used to score candidates. Undeterred, he moved to Hyderabad for coaching in 2024, only to fail the SSC Mains exam that year as well. Rather than giving up after two setbacks, he studied each failure closely and corrected course. Backed by constant encouragement from his parents, he resumed preparation in April 2025 with double the intensity and refined his approach further.

13 government job offers landed in 2025

That renewed effort paid off. After appearing for close to 30 competitive exams through 2025, Nagendra Sai's name showed up on the selection lists of 13 different government departments. In the AIIMS Centralised Recruitment Examination (AIIMS CRE), he was selected for both Social Security Officer (Level-7) and Upper Division Clerk (UDC, Level-4). At the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), he secured an Upper Division Clerk (UDC, Level-4) post as well. In SSC CGL 2025, he was selected as Statistical Investigator Grade-II (Level-6). Under SSC Phase-XIII, he also received offers across eight posts ranging from Level 2 to Level 6, including Surveyor, Assistant Communication Officer, Telecom Assistant, Fumigation Assistant, Surveillance Assistant, Fieldman, Assistant Administrator (HR) and Assistant Village Industry Administrator. Together, these selections added up to 13 government job offers in a single year.

Currently running ESIC's branch in Mahabubnagar

Given so many options to choose from, Nagendra Sai picked the post that suited him best. He currently works as the Branch Manager of the Employees' State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) in Mahabubnagar, Telangana. He has also performed well in 9 Navy INCET examinations, though the final results of those are still awaited.

His advice for other government job aspirants

Nagendra Sai believes most unemployed youth limit themselves to a handful of well-known recruitment drives, while the central government issues dozens of smaller notifications every year that often go unnoticed. His advice is to apply for as many forms as possible to widen the chances of selection. He says aspirants preparing for government jobs should study in a disciplined manner for 10 to 12 hours daily and make proper use of digital platforms. According to him, candidates should not fear failure, since it is failure itself that eventually builds the strongest foundation for success.
