A small amount of capital can build a big business when the will is strong, and Nyamat Baig is living proof of that. A resident of the Azad Nagar area in Burhanpur district of Madhya Pradesh, this young man set up a venture using nothing more than Rs 30,000 and an idea to make wooden toys. Today that very business brings in three to four lakh rupees in earnings every year.

Nyamat studied up to Class 10. After that, the idea of running a wooden toy business came to him from his maternal uncle, Kasam Khan. That single idea turned out to be the turning point of his life. For the past two years he has been running his own shop, and through this work he is also providing employment to three to four people.

It Started in One Small Room

Nyamat says he began this journey from a tiny room. When he laid the foundation of the work by investing Rs 30,000, he ran into plenty of difficulties in the early days. But he refused to give up and kept at it. The wooden toys he makes are loved by customers. Along with people from Burhanpur district, buyers from neighbouring states also come to take these toys home.

More than a dozen kinds of wooden items are made at his shop, and they enjoy strong demand in the market. The shop turns out spinning tops, rolling pins, wooden boards, swords, lezim and several other items that customers like a great deal.

Family Became His Biggest Strength

Nyamat's family has played a big role in taking this business forward. His family members Noman, Zed, Anwar, Nabil and Najim help him make the toys. He has also given work to four or five people from his locality. His goal is clear, he wants to provide employment to as many people as possible. After studying up to Class 10, he has been pouring his energy into this business for the last two years.

What this means for you

  • Across India: For young people with limited schooling and little capital, this shows that even an amount like Rs 30,000 can build an income-earning business when backed by a skill.
  • In Burhanpur: Local artisans and jobless youth have a real chance at work and income in wooden toy making, since demand for these items reaches neighbouring states too.

Inspiration & Lessons

  • Don't fear a small start: Nyamat began with just Rs 30,000 and a single small room, proving you can start without waiting for big capital.
  • Spot the right idea: He took the toy-making suggestion from his uncle Kasam Khan seriously and turned it into the turning point of his life.
  • Stay strong through hardship: Despite early difficulties he did not abandon the work, and that persistence became the key to his success.
  • Bring family on board: By drawing in the support of his family members, he gave the business both strength and pace.
  • Lift others too: Rather than earning for himself alone, his goal is to provide employment to as many people as possible.
