From Deep Financial Distress to Joining Jeevika
Prior to starting this business, Renu Kumari's family endured severe economic hardship. Her husband worked as a daily-wage laborer, earning barely enough to cover basic household expenses. The meager income from manual labor left the family in continuous financial insecurity. Refusing to succumb to these adverse circumstances, Renu decided to take charge of her family's economic future. After being part of the Jeevika group for a decade and understanding financial management, Renu pursued her vision of entrepreneurship. In 2024, she secured a business loan of Rs 1 lakh through her group to launch a trolley bag manufacturing unit. Focusing on durability and quality, her initial batch of products received an enthusiastic response from local buyers. As consumer demand rapidly grew, what began as a small home-based operation quickly scaled into a thriving commercial business.
Expanding Across Four Regions with Up to Rs 2 Lakh Net Profit
The trolley bags produced by Renu's unit are no longer restricted to Sheohar district. Today, her products are supplied in large volumes across neighboring regions including Sitamarhi, Madhubani, and Piprarhi. After deducting all production costs, raw material expenses, labor, and transport overheads, Renu earns a net monthly profit ranging between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 2 lakh. This remarkable financial success has completely stabilized her household finances and made her fully self-reliant.
Laborer Husband Becomes Business Boss as Family Flourishes
The growth of the enterprise has brought a profound transformation to Renu's home life. Her husband, who previously performed manual labor for others, no longer seeks external daily wage work. Instead, he actively co-manages the family business alongside Renu and other family members, stepping into the role of a business owner.
