Indian smartphone buyers are facing fresh financial setbacks as major brands continue to revise their retail prices upward. Following in the footsteps of brands like Vivo, iQOO, and OnePlus, companies like Poco and Oppo have quietly hiked the prices of several key smartphones. The updated rates have already started reflecting on major e-commerce platforms, signaling a broader upward trend in the consumer electronics market.
Poco X8 Pro Sees the Steepest Hike
The price revision hits Poco X8 Pro the hardest among the affected models. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage variant of the handset is now listed at ₹39,999. When the phone originally debuted in India, its introductory price was set at ₹32,999, marking a substantial direct increase of ₹7,000.
Similarly, the higher-tier 12GB RAM and 256GB storage configuration of the same device has also become significantly costlier. It now retails for ₹42,999 compared to its launch price of ₹35,999. Both variants of the handset have absorbed a steep ₹7,000 hike, putting additional pressure on buyers.
Poco X8 Pro Max Price Also Increased
The premium Poco X8 Pro Max has not been spared from the revision either, witnessing a uniform ₹6,000 price bump across its lineup. The 12GB RAM and 256GB storage model now carries a price tag of ₹48,999, up from its original launch price of ₹42,999.
Meanwhile, the top-end 12GB RAM and 512GB storage variant is now priced at ₹52,999. This particular model initially entered the market at ₹46,999. Both configurations reflect a direct ₹6,000 upward revision by the manufacturer.
Oppo K13 Turbo Pro Gets Costlier
Oppo has joined the trend by revising the pricing for the Oppo K13 Turbo Pro. The 8GB RAM and 256GB storage model of the smartphone is now available for ₹41,999. At the time of its initial release, the device was priced at ₹37,999, translating to a ₹4,000 increase.
Additionally, the 12GB RAM and 256GB storage variant now commands a price of ₹44,999. When introduced last year, the same model was priced at ₹39,999. This version has also received a ₹4,000 price correction.
Why Are Smartphone Prices Rising?
Industry observers point to surging costs of internal memory and storage components as the primary driver behind this wave of price hikes. Supply chains for critical components such as DRAM and NAND flash memory are currently experiencing severe strain.
At the same time, massive global demand for memory hardware driven by artificial intelligence data centers has intensified the crunch. Consequently, manufacturing costs have escalated, directly impacting the pricing of existing device lineups. Market experts warn that other manufacturers might follow suit in the coming months if component supply pressures persist.
