Apple CEO Tim Cook had already signaled that escalating input costs globally would make price hikes across the product lineup unavoidable. The company has now acted on that warning, revising prices upward across desktops, MacBooks, iPads, Apple TV, and HomePod in India. Apple has attributed the increases to rising input costs in global markets. The one bright spot is that iPhone prices remain unchanged, both in India and in every other country.
MacBook Prices Climb Steeply
The MacBook lineup has absorbed the widest set of revisions. The entry-level MacBook Neo has moved from Rs 69,900 to Rs 79,900. This model originally launched at Rs 59,900, meaning buyers are now paying Rs 20,000 more than the debut price, a 33 percent increase from launch.
The MacBook Air (512GB) has been repriced from Rs 1,19,900 to Rs 1,37,900, a jump of roughly Rs 17,000. The 13-inch MacBook Air with M5 chip launched at Rs 1,19,900 and now costs Rs 1,49,900, a rise of Rs 30,000 from its debut price. The 15-inch MacBook Air variant has gone from Rs 1,44,900 to Rs 1,79,900.
The MacBook Pro sees even sharper increases. The 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 chip and 16GB RAM has jumped from Rs 1,69,900 to Rs 2,39,900, a rise of nearly Rs 70,000. The steepest absolute increase belongs to the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5 Max chip, whose current price is approximately Rs 1,00,000 higher than its original launch price, the single largest hike across the entire lineup.
iPad Air and iPad Pro Both Affected
Tablet buyers face a considerably higher bill as well. The 11-inch iPad Air (M4) now costs Rs 89,900, up from Rs 64,900. The iPad Pro (M5, 256GB) has jumped from Rs 99,900 to Rs 1,39,900.
Apple TV and HomePod Hit With the Largest Percentage Increases
The home entertainment lineup has seen the sharpest percentage hikes of all. The Apple TV 4K (64GB) now costs Rs 25,900, up from Rs 14,900. The 128GB variant is now priced at Rs 31,900, compared to Rs 16,900 earlier. Both models have risen by 89 percent, the largest percentage increase in this entire round of revisions.
The HomePod has been revised from Rs 32,900 to Rs 44,900. The HomePod mini has gone from Rs 10,900 to Rs 15,900.
US Prices Revised Upward Too
The increases extend beyond India to the United States. The MacBook Air (512GB) now costs $1,299 in the US, up from $1,099. The MacBook Pro with 1TB storage is now priced at $1,999, compared to $1,699 previously. The 128GB iPad Air has moved from $599 to $749. Apple TV and Apple speaker prices in the US have also been revised upward.
iPhone Prices Still Unchanged
Despite the sweeping nature of these revisions, Apple has kept iPhone prices untouched. No change has been applied to iPhone pricing in India or in any other country as of now.
