A fatal road accident occurred in Hyderabad's IT hub of Madhapur at around 3:00 PM on 16 August 2026. A 26-year-old woman, Bharti Mukhi, was crossing the road in front of Inorbit Mall when she was violently struck by a high-speed luxury Aston Martin car. The impact resulted in critical head injuries and severe bleeding, leading to her death. According to preliminary police investigations, the vehicle was being driven by 21-year-old Lingamaneni Sanjush at the time of the collision.
Victim Identity and Sequence of the Fatal Incident
The victim was identified as 26-year-old Bharti Mukhi, who worked as a sales girl at the Lifestyle clothing store inside Inorbit Mall, Madhapur. On the afternoon of 16 August, she had gone near the nearby ITC Kohenur along with her colleague Pooja Ashok to pick up food. As the two colleagues were returning to Inorbit Mall and crossing the road directly opposite the establishment, an Aston Martin bearing registration number TG-09-G-0666, allegedly driven in a rash and negligent manner, struck Bharti Mukhi.
Rushed to Hospital where Doctors Declared Her Dead
The collision was severe, causing traumatic head injuries to Bharti Mukhi and significant blood loss at the scene. She was immediately taken to Apollo Hospital in Jubilee Hills for urgent medical attention. However, after examination, the doctors on duty declared her dead on arrival. The tragic loss has deeply saddened her colleagues and local workers in the vicinity.
Background of Accused Lingamaneni Sanjush and Police Action
Officers at the Madhapur Police Station under Cyberabad Police identified the driver as 21-year-old Lingamaneni Sanjush. Sanjush is a businessman residing in the Hitec City area of Madhapur. His father, Lingamaneni Ramesh, is a businessman and Rajya Sabha member associated with the Jana Sena Party led by Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.
FIR Registered under Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and Investigation Status
Based on the formal complaint, Crime No. 1238/2026 was registered under Section 106(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Madhapur Police Station. The accused was detained on the same day, and mandatory testing for drunk driving and drug usage was administered. In addition, blood samples were collected and dispatched to the Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) for comprehensive chemical examination. Police also seized the Aston Martin vehicle (TG-09-G-0666) involved in the crash.
Explanation of Non-Arrest Status under Bailable Offence Provisions
Providing details on the legal procedure, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) CH Sridhar of Madhapur stated that a legal notice has been issued to the accused Lingamaneni Sanjush. The officer explained that because Section 106(1) constitutes a bailable offense carrying a maximum punishment of under seven years, formal arrest was not executed under statutory guidelines. Police are currently awaiting the detailed post-mortem examination (PME) report to proceed with further legal steps.
