Henry Patten of Britain and Finland's Harri Heliovaara battled back from a set down to book their place in the Wimbledon men's doubles quarter-finals, keeping alive their hopes of defending the title they won at the All England Club last year.
A hard-fought win over the Czechs
Patten and Heliovaara, who climbed to the world number one ranking in June, edged past Czech pair Adam Pavlasek and Patrik Rikl 5-7 6-3 7-6 (10-6) in a contest that swung back and forth across three sets before the British-Finnish duo closed it out in a tense final-set tie-break.
A season already stacked with silverware
The pairing has been one of the standout stories in men's doubles since teaming up in 2024, picking up 12 titles together including this year's Australian Open crown, on top of their 2024 Wimbledon triumph. Their run at Wimbledon now continues against Argentina's Guido Andreozzi and Frenchman Manuel Guinard, who they will meet for a place in the semi-finals.
Cash, Glasspool and Skupski still alive
The other half of the men's doubles draw still has Britain's defending champions Julian Cash and Lloyd Glasspool in the mix, alongside Neal Skupski, who is playing this tournament alongside American partner Christian Harrison.
Mixed doubles produces mixed fortunes for the Britons
Skupski is enjoying a strong week across formats. He and American partner Desirae Krawczyk, seeded sixth, reached the third round of the mixed doubles with a 7-6 (7-5) 4-6 6-3 win over Portugal's Francisco Cabral and Australia's Ellen Perez. Joe Salisbury also moved through, teaming with Canada's Leylah Fernandez for a 6-4 4-6 6-2 victory against British pair Ben Jones and Maia Lumsden.
It was not good news for everyone flying the flag, though. Lloyd Glasspool, playing mixed doubles with Slovakia's Tereza Mihalikova, lost 6-3 7-6 (7-3) to France's Edouard Roger-Vasselin and Germany's Laura Siegemund. Marcus Willis and Heather Watson also exited the mixed doubles draw, beaten 6-2 7-6 (7-4) by Harrison, who was playing mixed doubles with China's Zhang Shuai.
