A social media campaign launched by the Chhattisgarh unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party targeting Generation Z has sparked a major online debate. The video shared on Wednesday, July 29, contrasted a clip of girls dancing with another showing a female student receiving an award from President Droupadi Murmu. The party questioned which mindset young voters would align with. However, one of the dancers featured in the clip, identified as student Urvashi Palandurkar, posted a witty Power Point Presentation (PPT) video calling out the unauthorized use of her footage and dissecting the caption's flaws, drawing widespread admiration across social platforms.
The Controversial Social Media Post by Chhattisgarh BJP
On Wednesday, July 29, the Chhattisgarh BJP released a split-screen video on its social media channels aimed at comparing two different facets of youth culture. One side of the video showed young girls performing a dance, while the other side depicted a high-achieving student receiving a national honor from President Droupadi Murmu. The party captioned the post by asking citizens whether they would choose "Gen Z dancing on Babar's legacy" or "Gen Z enhancing the pride of the state," framing the comparison as a choice between opposing values.
Urvashi Palandurkar's PPT Response and Three Core Flaws
Responding directly to the political campaign, Urvashi Palandurkar raised immediate objections over the use of her personal video without permission. She shared that following the party's upload, she received numerous messages from acquaintances inquiring about her well-being. Turning the situation around with humor, Urvashi created a detailed slide presentation to systematically break down the campaign's shortcomings into three distinct arguments.
In her first point, Urvashi criticized the weak caption writing, stating, "Your ChatGPT is not giving you good responses, guys." She noted that today's youth cannot relate to references about Babar's legacy. Her second point targeted polarization tactics, remarking, "You want to divide the Gen Z whose unity taught Parliament the term Gen Z." Finally, her third point challenged the idea that academic success and extracurricular pursuits are mutually exclusive. Urvashi declared, "Academics and extracurricular activities can go hand in hand, and I am living proof of it." To substantiate her claim, she revealed that she secured 93 percent in her 10th grade exams and 93 percent in her 12th grade exams, while displaying her living room filled with medals and trophies across academics, yoga, karate, and dance.
Widespread Online Praise and Political Support
Urvashi's video quickly gained traction online, receiving applause from prominent political figures and digital commentators. AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal commented on the clip, writing, "God bless you child, I really liked your positivity." Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi also endorsed the student's reaction by re-sharing the video on his social media handle without additional commentary.
Similarly, the Cockroach Party (CJP) shared the response clip, remarking that the attempt to label the Gen Z student had backfired against an impressive presentation. Social media commentator Abhijeet Dipke also praised Urvashi's sharp wit and composure, calling her a legend for standing up to the political narrative.
