The 54-year-old performer is battling severe kidney complications coupled with a systemic infection that has left him unresponsive over recent days. Alongside the medical crisis, his household faces severe financial distress, having completely depleted their life savings over years of medical treatment, prompting his family to urgently seek external financial assistance.
The Multi-Year Battle That Began In 2020
Detailing the origin of his health struggles, his younger sister Jayshree shared that the trouble began four years ago. Approximately three months prior to the 2020 COVID lockdown, Thakur suffered an injury on his leg. Because he suffers from diabetes, the wound failed to heal properly and gradually turned into an extensive infection that spread throughout his entire system. During this extended ordeal, he also developed a fatty liver condition, though he managed to recover from that specific ailment. A few days ago, his condition took a steep downturn, necessitating an immediate rush to the hospital.
Exhausted Savings And Industry Solidarity
Years of medical interventions, medications, and round-the-clock nursing have drained the household's financial reserves completely. Describing their desperate circumstances, Jayshree stated,
We have spent all our savings on his care and can no longer afford it, which is why we need help.Thakur, who is unmarried, lives with his mother and sister, both of whom have served as his primary caregivers. During previous stages of his prolonged illness, production teams from his television projects stepped forward with monetary assistance. Co-star Kavita Kaushik had also publicly appealed for financial aid, which helped fund his previous clinical treatments.
