Best known for playing Kapil Sharma's onscreen wife, actress Sumona Chakravarti was missing from screens and social media for nearly two months, and she has now explained exactly why. The 38 year old actress revealed she had been battling a serious condition called endometriosis and recently underwent surgery for it. Announcing her comeback, she also hit back at trolls who were questioning her absence, making it clear that no matter what happens, she plans to keep acting until her last breath.
Why the surgery became necessary
Sumona said she had been dealing with endometriosis for a long time. She initially tried to manage the condition with medication, but the pain gradually became unbearable. She finally underwent surgery on May 4 last month. Since the treatment, she had been on bed rest and focusing entirely on her recovery, which is why she stayed away from both shooting and social media.
An emotional note to fans
Making her return, Sumona wrote that she was thrilled to be back after two months. She said she had deliberately stayed off social media during this period. According to her post, she underwent surgery on May 4 to treat endometriosis. She added that she tried everything possible to manage the condition without surgery, but despite every effort the disease worsened, leaving surgery as the only option left. She said the last two months were spent working on both her mental and physical health.
Doctors were her angels, recovery now on track
The actress told her fans that her health is improving rapidly and that she now feels far better than before. She described the doctors and medical staff who treated her during this difficult phase as angels and thanked them wholeheartedly.
Not publicity, just awareness
Sumona clarified that she was not talking about her illness to seek publicity or sympathy from people. She said her only intention was to spread awareness about endometriosis among women, so that others could recognise the condition in time and seek treatment. She also wrote that the entire experience had completely changed her outlook on life.
TV stars react with support
As soon as her post went public, several television celebrities reacted with supportive comments. Karan V Grover, Arjun Bijlani and Aarti Singh were among the many actors and fans who commented, wishing her a full and speedy recovery.
