A shocking incident has sent ripples of terror through Jagatpur village under the Chhibramau kotwali police station limits in Kannauj district of Uttar Pradesh, just ahead of Deepawali. A husband, consumed by suspicion that his wife was having an extramarital affair, took an extreme and brutal step by pouring petrol on her and burning her alive. The horrifying crime created chaos across the entire village in the early hours. Upon receiving information, local police swiftly rushed to the scene and managed to arrest the accused husband.
The Couple Had a Love Marriage Eleven Years Ago
According to the details emerging from Jagatpur village, the accused husband has been identified as Sukhbir. Sukhbir had entered into a love marriage 11 years ago, and the couple shares a son and a daughter. Due to strained financial conditions and poverty, he used to live in Hisar where he worked as a laborer to earn a livelihood for his family. Just two days prior to the incident, he had returned home to celebrate Deepawali with his family. After returning, a deep-seated suspicion took root in his mind that his wife was involved in an illicit relationship, which triggered frequent arguments between the couple.
Matters escalated on the morning of November 5 when Sukhbir took both of his children outside the house for a brief while. Shortly after, he returned carrying a bottle of petrol and poured it directly onto his wife before setting her ablaze. After igniting the fire, he locked the burning room from the outside and fled from the spot. Soaked in petrol, the woman was engulfed by the flames and succumbed to her severe burn injuries within moments.
