Rajasthan's state government has launched a large recruitment drive to strengthen sanitation work across its urban areas. The Autonomous Governance Department has issued orders to fill 24,752 contractual sanitation worker posts, and online applications are being invited from interested and eligible candidates. The most notable part of this recruitment is that no educational qualification has been fixed for these posts, meaning candidates without a degree or formal schooling can also apply. The department says the drive is a step toward advancing Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Swachh Bharat Mission, and it will give urban local bodies a stronger sanitation system.
The state government believes that appointing such a large number of contractual workers will not only improve urban cleanliness but will also speed up the goal of building clean, healthy and empowered urban local bodies across the state.
When Applications Open and Close
Online applications for this recruitment will open on August 15, 2026, and candidates will be able to submit them until 11:59 pm on September 28, 2026. Candidates can apply either by logging into the SSO portal themselves or through e-Mitra and Jan Suvidha Kendra centres, which gives even those without personal internet access a way to fill the form. A candidate's age must be between 21 and 40 years as of January 1, 2027.
How Much Is the Application Fee
- General category candidates: one-time registration (OTR) fee of Rs 600.
- Reserved category and differently-abled candidates: fee of Rs 400.
Eligibility Rules: No Degree Needed, But Experience Is
This recruitment is being carried out under the Rajasthan Contractual Hiring to Civil Posts Rules and its provisions as amended from time to time. Being a domicile of Rajasthan is a mandatory condition for applicants. As mentioned earlier, no educational qualification has been prescribed for the contractual sanitation worker post, meaning there is no minimum schooling requirement either, unlike many other government recruitments. On age, a candidate must be at least 21 years old and not more than 40 years old as of January 1, 2027, though reserved categories will get age relaxation as per rules. Another condition is that a candidate must have at least one year of experience doing sanitation work in any urban local body of the state, meaning completely inexperienced first-time applicants will not be eligible for this recruitment.
Recruitment Spans 183 Urban Local Bodies
The state government has floated this recruitment across more than 183 urban local bodies of the state, including municipalities, municipal councils and municipal corporations. This means a large-scale appointment of contractual workers will take place simultaneously to strengthen sanitation systems in urban areas throughout the state, touching towns and cities of every size.
