A high-voltage drama unfolded in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh when a man climbed atop a tall telecommunications tower following a dispute with his wife. The incident took place in Lodipur Shobhan village, located within the Garhmukteshwar area of Hapur. At around 11 am on Saturday, local residents were shocked to spot a man perched precariously at the very top of a Jio mobile tower, roughly 100 to 130 feet above the ground. The sight triggered immediate panic in the area, and within minutes, hundreds of villagers gathered at the base of the structure, watching anxiously as fears grew for his physical safety.
Dispute Over Wife Leaving for Her Maternal Home
The individual on the tower was identified as Faiz, a resident of Shahjahanpur in the neighboring Meerut district. A domestic disagreement had erupted between Faiz and his wife, following which she left for her maternal home in Amroha district in anger. Faiz demanded that she return home immediately, but when routine attempts failed to resolve the situation, he resorted to an extreme and dangerous measure to press his demand. He climbed the transmission tower early on Saturday morning, refusing to come down until his wife was brought to the location.
Hours of Tense Stand-off and Emergency Response
Recognizing the severity of the danger, villagers quickly alerted the local police and the fire brigade. Emergency responders and police personnel rushed to the scene to manage the situation. Faiz remained stationed at that hazardous height for nearly 6 to 7 hours, creating immense stress for emergency crews on the ground.
