Youth Demanding Rs 2 Lakh Loan Repayment for Sister's Wedding Beaten to Death with Iron Rod in Hapur, 2 Arrested

In Hapur, 25-year-old Aman Sagar was murdered by his friend and accomplices after demanding the repayment of a Rs 2 lakh loan for his sister's upcoming wedding. Police have arrested two accused in the case.

A brutal murder over a financial dispute has come to light in the Hapur district of Uttar Pradesh, where a young man persistently demanding the return of borrowed money for his sister's upcoming wedding was murdered by his own acquaintances. The body of 25-year-old Aman Sagar, a resident of Adarsh Nagar, was recovered from an agricultural field situated near the Badnauli railway crossing. Acting swiftly upon receiving information, the police tracked down and arrested two key suspects involved in the killing, bringing the details of the crime to light.

Financial Dispute and Preparations for Sister's Wedding

Police investigation revealed that Aman Sagar and the primary accused, Prashant, had been friends for about two to three years. During this period, Aman had lent approximately Rs 2 lakh to Prashant. With his sister's marriage scheduled to take place in the upcoming month of November, Aman had been urgently and repeatedly asking Prashant to clear the debt to fund the wedding arrangements. Prashant, who had previously been incarcerated in connection with a rape case and had recently been released, was unwilling to return the borrowed money and instead hatched a sinister conspiracy to eliminate Aman.

Lured on the Pretext of Repayment

According to the sequence of events reconstructed by the police, Prashant contacted Aman around 7 PM on Monday evening, promising to hand over the cash. He picked Aman up on his scooter and drove along Modinagar Road, where they were joined by Ayush and Pankaj as per the plan. The group then proceeded towards the jungle area of Badnauli, where they consumed beer together. Taking advantage of Aman's intoxicated state, the accused asked him to perform push-ups. As soon as Aman bent down to do dips, the accused struck him repeatedly on the head using a heavy steel rod fitted with a motorcycle chain sprocket. The severe blunt force trauma resulted in Aman's immediate death, after which the assailants dumped his body in an open field near the Badnauli crossing and fled.

Formation of Four Police Teams and Arrests

Following the discovery of the body on Tuesday morning, senior police officials mobilized four dedicated investigative units to solve the homicide. Combining technical surveillance data with ground intelligence inputs, the police cordoned off the area near the Badnauli crossing and apprehended two of the accused individuals. The arrested persons have been identified as Prashant and Pankaj, both residents of Jasrupnagar within the jurisdiction of the Hapur Nagar police station. Based on their statements, investigators also recovered the murder weapon, a specialized steel rod welded with a motorcycle chain sprocket, and initiated further formal legal proceedings.

Police Refute Caste Conflict Rumours

In the wake of the incident, misleading narratives and rumours attempting to portray the crime as a caste-based conflict began circulating on social media. Addressing these claims, police authorities firmly clarified that the killing was purely rooted in a personal monetary dispute. Officials confirmed that both the victim and the accused belong to the same caste and community, making any communal or caste angle completely unfounded. The registered First Information Report names a total of four accused persons; while two have been successfully taken into custody, ongoing search operations are underway to arrest the remaining suspects.

Taking someone's life just because they asked for their own money back is completely inhuman. Aman was only worried about his sister's wedding preparations, having no idea his own friend would turn into his killer. How do such ruthless people manage to win trust in the name of friendship?

Hard to believe a friend would kill over money. Was that really all there was to it?

Arjun Mehta@arjun-mehta·23h ago

Ravikash, it is truly chilling. Prashant's criminal background and the way he lured him clearly show his intentions were malicious from the start.

How can a friend kill someone just for two lakhs? Seems like there is more to it, police should interrogate his other friends properly.

Karan, cases of murder to avoid paying back loans aren't new in UP. Given Prashant's criminal record, the police really need to dig deeper into everyone involved.
