During the session at Gracie Mansion, Trump reflected on his previous visits to the historic property and signaled potential administrative openness toward the city's sweeping residential development aspirations.

A central pillar of the agenda was Mamdani's plan to erect around 12,000 affordable housing units directly over Sunnyside Yard in Queens. The complex parcel has remained a topic of urban planning debates for generations without reaching full execution.
Following the sit-down, Trump indicated that both teams would pursue further conversations regarding the site, noting that discussions over developing this rail yard span nearly 50 years and that momentum may finally exist to move forward. For his part, Mamdani explained that the primary objective was identifying concrete avenues where the federal government and municipal authorities can align, particularly in expanding shelter and safeguarding immigrant New Yorkers.

Mamdani emphasized that he directly expressed very firm views to the President regarding the rights and protection of city residents, with specific emphasis on vulnerable immigrant populations. Nonetheless, Trump offered public praise for his host, stating that he hopes Mamdani thrives in office and highlighting that the Mayor possesses considerable capability.
