US President Donald Trump has dismissed the possibility of deploying nuclear weapons against Iran amid ongoing tensions, while also showing little interest in sending ground troops into the region. At the same time, the American military is actively formulating new tactical options to target Iran energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities, which could potentially involve the deployment of the Mother of All Bombs.
Clarification on the Nature of the Weapon
During an interview discussing the Mother of All Bombs, Trump clarified that the weapon in question is not atomic in nature. He asserted that the US has no need to resort to nuclear capabilities to achieve its objectives against Iran. Trump stated, 'The Mother of All Bombs is not a nuclear weapon.' He further emphasized that he would not use nuclear weapons in this conflict as it is completely unnecessary.
No Plans for Ground Troop Deployment
When asked whether he intended to deploy American ground troops inside Iran, Trump gave a straightforward negative response, stating that he is not contemplating such a move. This statement comes at a time when the trajectory of the Middle East conflict and the prospects of a negotiated settlement remain shrouded in uncertainty.
Preparing Alternative Strikes on Energy and Nuclear Sites
According to officials familiar with military planning, Trump has directed the armed forces to draft additional strike options. These plans could potentially involve the GBU-43/B Massive Ordnance Air Blast, specifically tailored for deployment against Iranian energy infrastructure and nuclear installations. Previously, Donald Trump issued a warning to Houthi rebels regarding attacks and regional stability.
