Officials representing Mizoram’s Kolasib district and Assam’s Cachar district have intensified their administrative coordination ahead of an inter-state border festival scheduled to take place at Vairengte on October 30.
High-Level Administrative Meeting
Kolasib Deputy Commissioner H Dolianbuaia and his Cachar counterpart Rahul Kumar Gupta met at the Cachar DC’s Conference Hall on Tuesday to evaluate the logistical arrangements and overall preparedness for the upcoming regional event.
Sports and Cultural Highlights
Both delegations assured each other of comprehensive mutual cooperation to ensure the smooth execution of the festival. The itinerary includes competitive sports such as futsal, badminton, volleyball, and table tennis, alongside vibrant cultural presentations highlighting the distinct ethnic diversity of the area.
Promoting Local Entrepreneurship
The festival will also host dedicated stalls supported by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency and the Mizoram State Rural Livelihood Mission. These exhibition spaces are designed to offer a robust platform for showcasing indigenous products, local entrepreneurship, and community-driven initiatives.
Enhancing Border Peace and Security
The discussions further addressed strategic measures aimed at reinforcing peace and security among residents living along the state border, while concurrently boosting inter-district cooperation across multiple developmental sectors.

In a parallel development, Kolasib Superintendent of Police Lalrinpuia Varte and Cachar Superintendent of Police Partha Protim Das held deliberations regarding tighter operational coordination between their respective law enforcement agencies, with a primary focus on curbing illicit drug trafficking across jurisdictional boundaries.

Organizers anticipate that the proposed festival will significantly accelerate border-area development, encourage meaningful cultural exchange, and strengthen bilateral relations between Assam and Mizoram by cultivating shared community experiences.
