Assam is preparing to host Vice President of India CP Radhakrishnan for a comprehensive two-day official tour scheduled to begin on September 6. During his itinerary in Guwahati, the Vice President will participate in cultural gatherings, attend official state engagements, and head to Gauhati University to inaugurate infrastructure projects alongside launching several major literary releases.
Day One Itinerary: Arrival, Cultural Engagements, and Raj Bhavan Dinner
The official schedule indicates that Vice President CP Radhakrishnan will arrive at Borjhar Airport in Guwahati around 10 a.m. on September 6. Shortly after his landing, he will attend dedicated cultural and public functions organized at Jyoti Bishnu Kala Mandir as well as Srimanta Sankardev Kalakshetra.
In the evening, the Vice President is slated to join a formal dinner gathering hosted in his honor by Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya at Raj Bhavan. Following the evening proceedings, he will retire for his overnight stay at the State Guest House located in Koinadhara, Guwahati.
Day Two Focus: Rs 110 Crore Campus Infrastructure and Book Releases
On September 7, the second day of the tour will center on major academic and development activities at Gauhati University. The Vice President will lay the foundation stone for several multi-crore infrastructure projects across the campus, carrying a cumulative valuation of Rs 110 crore funded directly by the Assam government.
The Gauhati University ceremony will also feature the launch of three prominent publications
- Integrated Development (The Role of the North Eastern Council): A book written by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, focusing on regional growth strategies.
- Bharat Ratna Dr Bhupen Hazarika Centenary Book: A special publication commemorating the birth centenary of the legendary cultural icon.
- Chandrakanta Dictionary (Expanded Edition): The latest revised and expanded edition of the celebrated Assamese dictionary.
Security Protocols and Campus Preparations
Administrative groundwork and administrative coordination are progressing rapidly across all event venues. Gauhati University Registrar Professor Utpal Sarma stated that extensive preparations are being finalized across the campus to facilitate the scheduled programs seamlessly.
Simultaneously, Guwahati Police together with the Kamrup Metropolitan district administration have deployed heightened security measures across the capital city. Security forces have tightened traffic management systems and perimeter surveillance along the Vice President's travel routes and around all scheduled event venues.
