Jaguar Land Rover has officially opened bookings in India for the Range Rover Sport Electric, marking the debut of the first all-electric powertrain in the nameplate's history. The British luxury carmaker plans to introduce the flagship battery-powered SUV as a fully imported model, with customer deliveries anticipated to commence by March 2027. Estimated to carry an ex-showroom price tag of around Rs 2.50 crore, which places it at a substantial premium over the internal combustion engine versions, the SUV will be sold across four variant grades: Dynamic SE, Dynamic HSE, Autobiography, and First Edition.
Platform, Powertrain, and Claimed Range
Underpinning the Range Rover Sport Electric is Jaguar Land Rover's 800-volt Flexible Modular Longitudinal Architecture (MLA-Flex), sharing its core structural foundation with the Range Rover Electric. The SUV is equipped with a large 118.5 kWh battery pack coupled to a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup. Together, this electric powertrain produces an impressive output of 550 hp and 850 Nm of torque, matching the performance benchmarks of the traditional V8-powered Range Rover Sport. Acceleration from zero to 100 km/h is achieved in 4.5 seconds. On the official WLTP testing cycle, the model delivers a claimed driving range of 609 km, exceeding the Range Rover Electric by 9 km.
Fast Charging and Battery Warranty
To reduce downtime on highway drives, the vehicle supports 350 kW DC ultra-fast charging capabilities. When connected to a compatible fast charger, the battery can replenish from 10 to 80 percent in 22 minutes. A brief 10-minute charging top-up adds up to 220 km of driving range. Jaguar Land Rover backs the 118.5 kWh energy storage system with an extensive battery warranty coverage of 8 years or 1.6 lakh km.
Exterior Design and Visual Elements
Visually, the Range Rover Sport Electric retains the familiar silhouette and styling cues of its combustion-engined sibling. The front fascia features sleek LED headlights flanking an aero-optimized black grille, with standard Range Rover lettering positioned across the sculpted clamshell bonnet and dedicated cooling air inlets embedded into the bumper. Along the sides, the SUV rides on prominent 22-inch alloy wheels, complemented by flush door handles and blacked-out A, B, and C pillars. The rear profile is defined by wraparound LED taillights joined by a gloss-black trim accent. Buyers can also specify optional styling upgrades such as a Black Pack or a satin exterior wrap.
Cabin Amenities and Digital Tech
The interior architecture offers a five-seater cabin layout equipped with modern digital displays and creature comforts. Dominating the dashboard is a 13.1-inch central touchscreen infotainment unit alongside a 13.7-inch digital driver display, both running EV-specific menus and graphics. The cabin also includes a three-spoke multifunction steering wheel, wireless smartphone charging, a 4-zone climate control setup, and rear side-window sunblinds. Comfort is enhanced by powered, heated, and ventilated seats provided for both front and rear occupants.
Chassis Rigidity and Suspension Setup
Engineering updates beneath the skin have increased the structural stiffness of the body by 61 percent, while positioning the centre of gravity 73 mm lower compared to the conventional platform. Road holding and ride stability are managed by double wishbone front suspension and a five-link rear suspension arrangement, integrated with adaptive air suspension, twin-valve dampers, active roll control, and all-wheel steering. Stopping power comes from a high-performance braking hardware consisting of 380 mm ventilated front discs gripped by four-piston calipers, paired with 355 mm solid disc brakes at the rear.
