Marking a historic milestone in the luxury SUV space, Jaguar Land Rover has introduced the first-ever fully electric iteration of its flagship Range Rover in India. For the first time in the brand's 56-year history, the iconic nameplate is adopting a zero-tailpipe-emission battery-electric powertrain without sacrificing its hallmark luxury, commanding presence, or formidable off-road capability. Coinciding with its global debut, official order books for the flagship EV have now been opened for buyers across India.
Dual-Motor Performance and Supercar-Level Acceleration
Powering the Range Rover Electric is a sophisticated dual permanent magnet electric motor setup that generates a combined output of 542 horsepower and an impressive 850 Nm of peak torque. Anchored by an intelligent all-wheel-drive system, this massive luxury SUV sprints from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.5 seconds. This explosive performance places the electric flagship among the fastest and most capable contenders in the ultra-luxury EV arena.
118.5 kWh Battery, 800V Architecture, and Ultra-Fast Charging
Underneath the floor lies a massive 118.5 kWh lithium-ion battery pack engineered with 344 prismatic cells arranged in a double-layer design. Utilizing an advanced 800-volt electrical architecture, the SUV supports ultra-fast DC charging speeds of up to 350 kW. Connected to a compatible high-power DC charger, the battery can replenish from 10 to 80 percent state of charge in a mere 22 minutes. A brief 10-minute splash-and-dash charge adds approximately 220 kilometers of driving range. Under WLTP testing protocols, the vehicle achieves a claimed single-charge range of up to 600 kilometers, while expected real-world driving conditions yield an estimated range of around 535 kilometers.
India Booking Details, Variants, and Expected Pricing
The Range Rover Electric will be manufactured exclusively at the company's Solihull plant in the United Kingdom and brought into India as a Completely Built Unit (CBU). Prospective buyers in India can secure their reservation by placing a token booking amount of ₹10 lakh. Jaguar Land Rover is offering the EV in both Standard Wheelbase and Long Wheelbase configurations. The Standard Wheelbase lineup includes the Autobiography and First Edition trims, whereas the Long Wheelbase catalog features the top-tier SV, SV Ultra, and SV Black variants. While official ex-showroom prices for India will be announced later, the vehicle starts at approximately £1.54 lakh in the UK, pointing to an estimated Indian price tag of around ₹3 crore or higher.
Exterior Styling, Cabin Features, and Safety Tech
Visually, the Range Rover Electric retains the iconic silhouette and commanding stance of its internal combustion engine siblings, featuring subtle styling tweaks to the front grille and aerodynamic trim. Inside, the cabin is fitted with high-grade sustainable materials, expansive touchscreen displays, opulent seating, and refined finishes. Key interior amenities include remote app integration, cabin pre-conditioning, options for a bespoke Meridian sound system, and advanced connected car technology. On the safety front, the flagship model comes equipped with a modern suite of Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), a 360-degree camera arrangement, and a highly reinforced structural chassis.
