She explained that there are only two children in her family, both daughters, an elder sister and herself, and no brother who could step in and take care of their parents if she were to start a family of her own. She added that looking after parents isn't only about providing financial support; it also means being physically present for them, and that responsibility has shaped how she approaches the idea of marriage.
The five-year relationship from a decade ago
Amrapali then opened up about a relationship that began close to ten years ago and lasted about five years. The man she was with, she said, worked in television, and he has since gone on to become happily married. Notably, both families were aware of the relationship while it was going on, which suggests it was serious and not something either side was hiding. Still, her career eventually came in the way. Her boyfriend wanted the relationship to lead to marriage, while Amrapali, at that point, was focused on building her career and also wanted to make time for her own family. What makes the memory harder, according to Amrapali, is that the man she was with wasn't a bad person in any way. She noted that if he had been difficult or unkind, it would have been far easier to look back and simply blame him for the breakup.
