An international flight operated by IndiGo travelling from Lucknow to Dammam in Saudi Arabia was forced to execute an emergency landing at Ahmedabad airport following a security alert on board. The incident occurred when a flight crew member discovered a slip of paper inside the cabin with the word 'Bomb' written on it. The aircraft was carrying 107 passengers and 6 crew members at the time. The sudden disruption caused brief anxiety among passengers, but the flight landed safely on the runway under emergency protocols.
Emergency Landing and Isolation Bay Protocol
Upon receiving the emergency landing request, security personnel and airport management at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad went on high alert. Immediately after touchdown, standard aviation security protocols were activated, and the aircraft was taxied to a designated isolation bay far from the main passenger terminals. Security teams swiftly evacuated all passengers and crew members from the plane, guiding them safely to Terminal 2 of the airport.
Joint Search Operation by CISF and Local Police
Following the deboarding of everyone on board flight 6E 97, multiple security agencies launched a thorough inspection of the aircraft. Teams from the Special Operations Group (SOG) of the local police alongside personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) conducted a comprehensive sweep. Specialized search units meticulously scanned the passenger cabin, baggage compartments, galley areas, and lavatories to rule out any potential threats.
No Suspicious Items Found During Thorough Sweep
After extensive multi-agency checks across the entire aircraft, law enforcement officials confirmed that no suspicious devices, explosives, or hazardous materials were found on board. Following the completion of security procedures, authorities confirmed that the threat was false. All 107 passengers and 6 crew members remained completely safe throughout the procedure. Police authorities are continuing their investigation to determine the origin of the threat note and identify who placed it inside the cabin.
