The investigation into the Maharashtra TET paper leak has now reached Bihar. The trail led investigators to Hajipur in Vaishali district, where a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of the Maharashtra Police, working alongside the Bihar STF and local police, carried out a major raid. The operation targeted the Quick Digital Cyber Cafe on Kachahri Road, under the jurisdiction of Hajipur Nagar police station, where searches continued for hours.
Raid stretches past midnight, three taken into custody
The Maharashtra STF team reached the cyber cafe on Kachahri Road and combed through it until nearly 1 am. Following the raid, the team took three people into custody, including the cafe's operator, Sonu Kumar. All three are currently being questioned. Sonu is a resident of Sahdei village in Vaishali district and has been running the cyber cafe in Hajipur since 2009.
Link traced to Samastipur mastermind
The investigation has found that Sonu is connected to Bijendra Gupta, the alleged mastermind of the paper leak case, who is said to be from Samastipur. The Maharashtra STF is also searching for Sonu's younger brother, Vikas, who runs a cyber cafe in Patna and remains at large.
Digital evidence seized, probe continues
During the raid, the Maharashtra STF team recovered several pieces of digital evidence, which will be examined closely. The team did not share detailed information but said the raid was conducted in connection with the TET paper leak case and that the investigation is ongoing. Police sources describe it as a large racket spread across several states. Investigators are now trying to decode the entire digital network through the seized mobile phones and email activity, and more big names are expected to be exposed in the coming days.
Over 4.28 lakh candidates had registered
More than 4 lakh 28 thousand candidates had registered for the Maharashtra TET exam. However, the paper was leaked just 24 hours before the exam was scheduled to be held on June 28. Following this, the Maharashtra State Examination Council cancelled the exam. Police subsequently raided Bhiwandi in Maharashtra and arrested several accused from Bihar and Haryana. The Maharashtra STF continues to conduct raids across multiple states as it works to dismantle the network.
