A retired teacher and his wife were subjected to a terrifying ordeal when local criminals broke into their residence, held them captive, and escaped with jewelry valued at lakhs of rupees. The local police have initiated an investigation into the matter after being alerted about the crime.
Details of the Late Night Intrusion
The victim, Shankar Dayal Shahi, is a retired educator who resides with his wife. The incident took place during the late hours of the night when the couple was asleep. Capitalizing on the darkness and the vulnerability of the elderly duo, the perpetrators managed to gain entry into the house. Upon entering, they immediately targeted the wife, securing her as a hostage to prevent any resistance. With the couple rendered helpless, the robbers systematically ransacked the house and gathered all the valuable gold and silver ornaments, valued in lakhs, before quickly escaping from the scene.
Family Background and Police Intervention
The couple lived alone in the house, making them an easy target for the criminals. Their son is currently serving in the Indian Air Force, or IAF, and is posted in Rajasthan. The isolation of the elderly parents is believed to have given the criminals an ideal opportunity to plan and execute the robbery.
Following the incident, the local Aurai police station was informed, and a team quickly arrived at the spot to gather evidence. SDPO East One Alay Vats confirmed that they received information regarding the robbery at the retired teacher's house. He stated that the criminals took hostage of the educator and his wife to steal the jewelry. The officer assured that the police are actively investigating the case and will take strict action once the investigation progresses.
