Political circles in Bihar witnessed a major stir after strict legal action was initiated against an employee associated with the Chief Minister's Office. Photographs capturing a meeting between Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary and the family of a minor victim from Jamui were posted on official social media handles, inadvertently exposing the victim's identity. Prompt administrative steps were taken following the breach, leading to a formal First Information Report being filed against CMO stenographer Sagar Prasad. Along with him, legal action has also been initiated against other social media users and online accounts that widely circulated these identifying pictures across various digital platforms.
Meanwhile, the unfolding development triggered a heated political slugfest. Opposition figure and Rashtriya Janata Dal MP Misa Bharti visited a local police station to submit a formal complaint regarding the matter. However, she alleged that local law enforcement authorities were stalling and refusing to accept her grievance. In response, Bharatiya Janata Party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar Sharma launched a sharp counterattack against Misa Bharti. He questioned by what authority leaders linked to previous regimes were repeatedly publishing and publicizing photographs of the victim. The BJP spokesperson maintained that the moment the Chief Minister took cognizance of the lapse, the concerned staffer was dismissed from service and an FIR was ordered, adding that exploiting such sensitive imagery for political purposes is unjustified.
Family's Anguish and Demand for Strict Justice
Prior to this, following the grave sexual harassment incident in Jamui district, the victim's parents met directly with the state's top leadership to demand the harshest possible punishment for the perpetrators. The family asserted that their daughter had undergone unimaginable trauma and those responsible must be shown no leniency. They insisted that the culprits should experience the exact same fear and psychological torment that they inflicted upon the minor child.
Recounting the horrifying ordeal, the victim's mother shared her deep grief, emphasizing that no other family should ever endure such a tragedy. She recalled how her daughter had pleaded before the wrongdoers, and stated that those criminals must now be made to plead before the law. She urged authorities to take exemplary action to instill a sense of fear among such offenders so that they never dare to repeat such despicable acts.

During the interaction, Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary assured the aggrieved family of comprehensive protection and support for the victim's continued education. According to family members, the administration promised that the state government stands firmly with them during this difficult time and will ensure justice is delivered. Officials reiterated commitments to provide all necessary security arrangements so the family can live without intimidation.
Incident Occurred While Returning From Coaching
The grave incident unfolded on September 19 when two minor students were returning home from their coaching classes. They were accosted and harassed along the way, after which a video of the incident surfaced online, sparking widespread public outrage and condemnation. Law enforcement agencies swiftly intervened, and special investigation teams have since intensified their probe.
Crackdown on Social Media Handles and Digital Violations
Taking strict cognizance of the online circulation of sensitive material, senior police officials personally inspected the site where the minor student and her companion were harassed. Concurrently, a massive crackdown has been launched against individuals and pages that viralized the video. Police have registered cases against 120 social media accounts found sharing the objectionable content, including 13 Facebook accounts, 12 Instagram handles, and 7 Twitter profiles. Authorities are maintaining strict vigilance across virtual networks to curb the unauthorized dissemination of sensitive information and penalize violators.
