Amid growing political debate in Bihar over the Special Summary Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and the reliability of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), allies within the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) have started seeking official answers. Following recent comments by Union Minister Chirag Paswan, Rashtriya Lok Morcha chief and Rajya Sabha MP Upendra Kushwaha has now urged the Election Commission of India to issue a clear statement on the matter.
Call to Address Public Confusion
In a public statement shared on social media platform X, Upendra Kushwaha highlighted that the ongoing controversy related to the SIR process has generated considerable confusion among the general public. He emphasized that the issue requires immediate attention and requested the election body to promptly release an official explanation detailing the actual facts to dispel all doubts.
Growing Demands Within the Ruling Coalition
The issue has gained significant traction as questions are no longer limited to opposition parties. With Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan raising similar concerns earlier, Kushwaha's statement underscores a collective desire among key NDA partners in Bihar for transparency. The onus is now on the Election Commission to address the administrative process and reassure voters ahead of upcoming political events.
