Prime Minister Narendra Modi posted a message on the social media platform X, offering his tributes to the former Prime Minister on his birth anniversary. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also paid heartfelt respects to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi through a post on X.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh acknowledged his vital role in the country's progress, noting that the former Prime Minister made an important contribution to India's development journey. Union Minister of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Shivraj Singh Chouhan also expressed his respectful tributes to the late leader on his birth anniversary.

Rajiv Gandhi was born on August 20, 1944, in Bombay (now Mumbai). His birth anniversary is annually observed across India as Sadbhavana Diwas to promote national harmony. Following the brutal assassination of his mother, Indira Gandhi, on October 31, 1984, he assumed leadership as Congress president and subsequently became the Prime Minister of India.
Assuming office at just 40 years of age, Rajiv Gandhi holds the distinction of being India's youngest Prime Minister. He was also among the youngest political leaders globally to head a national government. He led the country as Prime Minister from 1984 to 1989, steering significant administrative and structural initiatives.
