A young married woman died under suspicious circumstances in the Ramnagar area of Bagaha subdivision in Bihar. The incident unfolded in Ward Number 23 of Mill Bahuari, sparking tension and grief throughout the neighborhood. Upon receiving information regarding the woman's death, the Ramnagar police team arrived at the scene, secured the area, and took custody of the body. The deceased was subsequently transported to the Bagaha Sub-Divisional Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Her parental family has formally accused her in-laws of orchestrating her murder after persistent demands for additional dowry went unfulfilled. Authorities have initiated a comprehensive probe into the circumstances surrounding the death.
Cash and Jewelry Given at Marriage, Yet Motorcycle Demanded
The deceased has been identified as Santara Khatoon. Her grieving mother, Soni Khatoon, has leveled severe accusations against her son-in-law, Safraz Alam, asserting that her daughter had been subjected to unrelenting domestic abuse. According to the mother, Santara was married just one year ago. At the time of the wedding, the bride's family provided three lakh rupees in liquid cash alongside jewelry valued at approximately five lakh rupees to satisfy custom and ensure her well-being. However, Safraz Alam allegedly began demanding a high-end KTM motorcycle shortly after the marriage. When the family could not fulfill this additional luxury demand, the accused allegedly started beating Santara routinely and subjecting her to intense domestic harassment.
Victim Had Sent Video Evidence of Assault Before Untimely Demise
The victim's relatives revealed that Santara had previously recorded a video documenting the physical assaults she endured at her matrimonial home. She sent this video recording to her parents to inform them about the extreme severity of the domestic violence and her perilous situation. Following the news of her demise, her family members have been left utterly devastated and are demanding swift justice. In the immediate aftermath of the incident, Safraz Alam and all members of his household abandoned the residence and fled the area to evade law enforcement.
Autopsy Awaited While Police Conduct Search Operations
Providing details on the ongoing legal proceedings, Ramnagar Police Station Chief Mahendra Kumar stated that the victim's mortal remains have been dispatched for a post-mortem examination, which will establish the precise medical cause of death. Simultaneously, investigative teams are carrying out coordinated raids at multiple suspected hideouts to locate and arrest the absconding husband and other implicated relatives. Law enforcement personnel are also recording statements from neighbors and local acquaintances to piece together the events leading to the fatal incident.
