Within the premises of the Bihar Animal Sciences University, the construction of a state-of-the-art veterinary clinical complex is progressing rapidly, set to become the largest such facility across the entire Asian continent. This landmark project is being hailed as a revolutionary development in animal healthcare and is expected to be inaugurated next year, coinciding with the university's 100th foundation anniversary.
Asia's Largest Medical Hub
According to Dr. Gyan Dev Singh, Associate Professor at Bihar Animal Sciences University, this clinical complex will surpass the facilities of any other veterinary college in Asia in both scale and technological integration. Being constructed under the state’s agricultural road map, the complex is situated adjacent to the university campus, near the Patna Airport. It is designed to serve a dual purpose: providing high-level practical training for veterinary students and offering comprehensive medical services to the general public who seek top-tier healthcare for their animals.
Equipped with Advanced Facilities
The upcoming clinical complex will feature dedicated OPD sections for various veterinary departments, advanced operation theaters, and specialized units tailored for the treatment of large animals. Precise arrangements for complex surgeries are being implemented to ensure prompt relief for animals suffering from critical conditions. Each department will be equipped with modern machinery and up-to-date tools, ensuring that not only will animal care standards rise, but students will also benefit from high-level hands-on training.
Expanding Current Capabilities
At present, the veterinary college operates its clinical services within a smaller, limited area. Despite this limitation, it serves as a critical destination for people from across Bihar as well as neighboring states like Uttar Pradesh and Jharkhand. The hospital provides treatment for a wide range of animals, from small pets to large livestock, at a highly subsidized cost. OPD services currently start at just 10 rupees.
Furthermore, specialized medical care is incredibly affordable, with gynecological services starting at 40 rupees, surgical procedures at 20 rupees, and pathological testing at 20 rupees. Once the new complex is fully operational, these services will be expanded further. Existing facilities such as blood transfusions, diagnostic services, biochemical tests, and professional grooming will be bolstered with superior infrastructure and more advanced medical technology. This initiative is set to redefine the landscape of veterinary services and animal husbandry across the region.
