A major disaster was averted at Gaya Junction in Bihar on Tuesday after a specially abled commuter slipped while attempting to board a moving train. The passenger fell onto platform number 4 and began sliding toward the dangerous gap between the train coach and the platform edge. Alert railway security personnel stationed nearby acted within seconds, grabbing the individual and pulling him away from oncoming danger.
Incident Unfolds On Platform Number 4
The incident occurred on October 6, 2026, as train number 63254 Down Gaya-Patna MEMU was pulling out of platform number 4. Commuters on the platform were being actively warned against boarding the moving coaches. Despite the precautions, a specially abled passenger attempted to enter the moving train, lost his footing, and collapsed onto the surface of the platform.
Passenger Was Dragged Toward The Track Gap
After losing balance, the commuter began sliding alongside the moving train, edging perilously close to the opening between the platform and the footboard. Any further slip into the gap could have caused fatal injuries under the wheels. Seeing the imminent peril, Railway Protection Force Assistant Sub-Inspector Balwant Kumar Singh and Constable Sawan Kumar immediately sprang into action without hesitation.
Prompt Action Under Operation Jeevan Raksha
Both personnel rushed toward the slipping passenger, caught hold of him firmly, and pulled him back onto the safe side of the platform with full force. A delay of merely a few seconds could have led to a catastrophe. The Railway Protection Force classified the brave rescue under its ongoing Operation Jeevan Raksha initiative, commending the situational awareness and speed shown by the two on-duty staff members.
Station Surveillance Captures The Rescue
The entire sequence was captured on a CCTV camera mounted near the ladder on the Delhi end of platform number 4. The recorded footage clearly documents how the immediate reaction of the security staff prevented a deadly tragedy. The event serves as an urgent reminder of the hazards associated with rushing to board or disembark from trains once they are in motion.
