The Bundelkhand region of Chitrakoot district was once counted among the educationally backward areas. Especially in the remote villages of the Patha belt, maintaining a proper educational environment used to be a massive challenge. During those days, sending children to school was not an easy task for many local families. However, with changing times, the scenario is gradually transforming, and rural children are showing a renewed interest in studies. Concurrently, the confidence of parents in government-run schools is also making a steady comeback. A prime example of this positive change is the upper primary school located in the Garchapa gram panchayat under the Manikpur tehsil.
Transformation Driven by Pure Dedication
The credit for giving this government school a brand-new identity goes entirely to teacher Harishankar Tripathi. His passion for teaching, hard work, and deep dedication toward children completely turned around the fortunes of a school situated in a small village. Acknowledging his outstanding contributions, he was honored with the State Teacher Award on September 5. Following this prestigious recognition directly from the Chief Minister, an atmosphere of immense joy and celebration prevails among the school staff, students, parents, and local villagers alike.
Villagers Express Pride and Appreciation
Arun Singh, the pradhan representative of Garchapa village, shared that it is a matter of immense pride for both their village and the entire Chitrakoot district that a teacher from a humble government school has received the state-level honor. He mentioned that local residents visited the school premises to felicitate the educator. According to him, Harishankar Tripathi worked day and night to spread the light of education in the village, and today's achievement, along with several other past awards bestowed upon him and the school, is a direct result of those sincere efforts.
Taking Charge Back in the Year 2013
Principal Harishankar Tripathi recalled that he was posted at the Garchapa upper primary school in the year 2013. When he first arrived, the educational standards at the institution were extremely poor. Student attendance remained persistently low, and the villagers did not show much enthusiasm regarding the government school. Instead of giving up in the face of such adversity, he began reaching out directly to the villagers and parents. Step by step, he made people understand the true value of education and successfully motivated families to send their children to school on a regular basis.
A Remarkable Surge in Student Enrollment
The tireless efforts put in by the teacher eventually began yielding visible results. A school that once had almost negligible student attendance now proudly boasts an enrollment of 314 children. Today, all these local kids are receiving their education right inside their native village's public school. The principal emphasized that this recognition does not belong to him alone, but is the collective fruit of hard work put in by the entire school staff, the enthusiastic students, and the supportive villagers, with a continuous mission to push children further ahead in education.
Upgraded Facilities and Modern Classrooms
Elaborating further on the developments, the principal stated that continuous efforts are underway to provide modern educational facilities to the children. The school has been equipped with smart classrooms, an ICT lab, sports equipment, and various other essential amenities. Utilizing these modern resources, students are no longer restricted to traditional textbook learning alone but are being connected with advanced technology and contemporary education. Special attention has also been paid to maintaining proper cleanliness and a healthy overall environment within the campus so that children get an ideal setting for learning, which explains why rural trust in public education has grown significantly.
