In Chhattisgarh's Raigarh district, six to seven boys climbed over the boundary wall of a government school and attacked a class 9 student with a knife-like weapon. The student suffered serious injuries below his waist and is being treated at the district hospital.
How the attack unfolded
According to police, the incident took place at a government school in Raigarh's Chakradharnagar area. During the lunch break, six to seven boys from outside the school scaled the boundary wall and entered the premises. They called the class 9 student out of his classroom and began assaulting him. In the course of the attack, the accused struck the student with a knife-like sharp weapon, leaving him with deep injuries below the waist. The attackers fled the school campus immediately after the assault.
Police swing into action
As soon as the incident was reported, police from the Chakradharnagar station reached the spot and launched an investigation. A review of the school's CCTV footage helped identify the boys involved in the attack. Acting on this, police quickly detained three minor accused. During questioning, all three admitted to beating the student. Police registered a case based on a complaint filed by the school principal, and are now working to track down the remaining accused involved in the attack.
An old rivalry behind the attack
Investigators said questioning of the accused revealed that the attack stemmed from a dispute linked to an old friendship between the boys and the victim. The case remains under investigation, and police are working to establish exactly how the dispute originated.
What the additional SP said
Additional SP Anil Soni said outside boys entered the government school in Chakradharnagar during the lunch break. "The accused called the minor student out of class, beat him and also attacked him with a knife-like weapon," he said. The attackers fled the scene afterward, and the injured student was admitted to the district hospital for treatment. Soni said CCTV footage helped identify the accused, leading to the arrest of three minors, while the rest are expected to be caught soon.
