Domestic Box Office Hits Low Tide on Day Five
Across the country, Haiwaan retained around 2,976 shows on its fifth day, yet footfalls remained critically sparse. The movie managed a net collection of barely Rs 0.70 crore in the domestic market. The anticipation surrounding the reunion of the two lead actors failed to translate into actual ticket sales, as theater halls registered vast numbers of empty seats throughout the day, indicating that the narrative did not resonate with moviegoers.
Total Collections Across Indian and Overseas Circuits
When tallying the first five days of release, the domestic net earnings for the project stand at a modest Rs 8.75 crore, while the gross domestic figure rests at Rs 10.46 crore. For a high-profile production featuring veteran stars, failing to touch double digits in net domestic collections across five days represents a severe financial disappointment for the team behind it.
The response from international circuits has been equally muted. On day five, overseas territories generated a meager Rs 0.15 crore, which took the cumulative overseas gross to an underwhelming Rs 3.15 crore. Combining both domestic and international markets, the worldwide gross total after five days stands at Rs 13.61 crore. Weighed against the commercial scale and expectations set for the project, these returns fall far short, pointing to an imminent reduction in screen count across theaters.
Opening Day Numbers and the September 11 Launch
The film made its theatrical debut on September 11, featuring a character dynamic where Priyadarshan cast Akshay Kumar in a negative role opposite Saif Ali Khan in a positive part. Despite that massive footprint, it opened to an underwhelming domestic net figure of just Rs 3.00 crore, converting to a domestic gross of Rs 3.60 crore. Overseas markets contributed merely Rs 1.00 crore gross on day one, yielding a worldwide opening gross of barely Rs 4.60 crore.
