The turning point in the casting process stemmed from concerns regarding on screen authority during dramatic confrontations. Berry explained that the climax of Darr contained a key sequence where Rahul Mehra had to physically strike the opposing lead character. Yash Chopra began to feel that a newcomer like Sudesh Berry throwing a punch at an established megastar like Sunny Deol would lack credibility in front of theatre audiences. Fearing that the scene would appear weak or unbalanced, the legendary director chose to rethink the role, ultimately bringing Shah Rukh Khan on board.
Berry candidly admitted that he has never watched Darr to this day, having only heard about how the film turned out from others. Nevertheless, he expressed immense respect for Yash Chopra's directorial vision, attributing the filmmaker's string of classic movies to his unyielding passion for cinema.
