One of the most ambitious and lavish cinematic ventures in Indian film history, Ramayana, has made its arrival in theaters amid massive anticipation from audiences. Long before the opening morning shows commenced across circuits, the film displayed extraordinary commercial momentum at the global box office. Robust ticket reservations across domestic and international territories propelled its total worldwide pre-release collection beyond the Rs 150 crore benchmark, while domestic advance figures surged toward the significant Rs 50 crore threshold for the opening day alone.
Domestic Opening Day Numbers and Screen Presence
In the home market, advance bookings for the film's opening day on November 5 generated a gross total of Rs 49.75 crore, including blocked seat arrangements. Excluding blocked seats, the clean advance total stood firmly at Rs 42.50 crore. Over 13.71 lakh tickets were sold across India prior to release, coming out to 11.79 lakh admissions when excluding blocked seats. To accommodate this unprecedented demand, cinema owners and exhibitors lined up an extensive schedule of 26,590 shows nationwide on the first day.
Hindi Circuit Dominance and Metro City Performance
The primary driver behind this pre-release wave has been the Hindi market. For the first day, the Hindi version alone contributed Rs 37.41 crore in gross bookings, which translated to Rs 31.42 crore after excluding blocked seats. Nationwide scheduling reflected this focus, with 21,535 shows dedicated specifically to the Hindi language. Among major metropolitan centers, Delhi-NCR led the advance reservation charts with Rs 5.46 crore, followed closely by Mumbai at Rs 4.50 crore and Bengaluru generating Rs 2.87 crore in initial ticket sales.
First Week Trajectory and Overseas Demand
Consumer interest in the production extends well beyond day one. For its first seven days in theaters, overall gross pre-release revenue in India reached Rs 127.03 crore, amounting to Rs 102.38 crore without blocked seats. Opening day sales accounted for roughly 39 percent of this entire first-week domestic volume. The production saw an equally enthusiastic response in international markets, where overseas advance bookings reached approximately $5.6 million. Combining domestic theatrical interest with these strong foreign receipts carried worldwide pre-release totals beyond Rs 150 crore.
Opening Day Projections and Southern Regional Competition
Trade estimates suggest that the multilingual release could deliver an opening day gross between Rs 75 crore and Rs 100 crore across all versions, though the final tally will depend on walk-in crowds and early viewer word of mouth. Long-term lifetime projections range from Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 3,000 crore. In southern regional circuits, the film faces notable competition against prominent local releases, including Suriya's Kanguva or Sean alongside Nayanthara's Mookuthi Amman 2. Trade analyst Ramesh Bala noted that excitement in Karnataka is exceptionally heightened due to the star power of Yash, while the inclusion of Sai Pallavi is expected to bolster footfalls across neighboring southern states.
Production Scale, Cast Roster and Budgetary Details
Directed by Nitesh Tiwari, the sprawling cinematic interpretation features Ranbir Kapoor in the role of Lord Ram, Sai Pallavi as Goddess Sita, and Yash playing the antagonist Ravana. Backed by producer Namit Malhotra, this ambitious two-part cinematic venture reportedly carries an enormous combined production budget of nearly Rs 4,000 crore as it officially begins its theatrical journey.
