A political and social media storm has erupted following actor and Mandi Member of Parliament Kangana Ranaut's critical remarks regarding Gen Z protesters. Ranaut's commentary on recent demonstrations, including those at Jantar Mantar, drew sharp disapproval from several entertainment industry figures. Joining musician Vishal Dadlani in voicing opposition, media personality Rakhi Sawant issued a fierce response defending students and young women across the nation.
Rakhi Sawant's Fiery Retort and Airport Incident Reference
Reacting through a video shared on social media, Rakhi Sawant launched a direct attack on the Mandi MP, using harsh epithets including calling her a 'witch' (chudail). Sawant brought up the past security incident at the airport where Ranaut was slapped, questioning the politician's stance against the country's youth. Sawant asserted that Ranaut's current statements stem from the security protection granted to her, suggesting that walking unescorted would reveal the public's true sentiment.
Further expressing disbelief over Ranaut's electoral victory in Mandi, Sawant made scathing remarks regarding Ranaut's political standing and her past history in Bollywood. She questioned Ranaut's moral authority to criticize young women, arguing that degrading citizens and student demonstrators is entirely unwarranted.
The Controversial Statements by Kangana Ranaut
The backlash follows a series of posts uploaded by Kangana Ranaut on her Instagram stories, where she reacted to viral footage of demonstrations involving the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar. Ranaut expressed repulsion at the clips, questioning the upbringing of the participants and stating that they needed a thorough detox to overcome such behavior.
To highlight her point, Ranaut drew a contrast with her own youth, stating that by the time she was at their age, she had already won two National Awards. She also directed specific criticism at female participants in the protests, labeling them as 'so-called westernised Indian women.' These remarks collectively sparked widespread debate across digital platforms and the film fraternity.
