Punjabi singer Diljit Dosanjh kicked off the India leg of his Aura Tour at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Delhi, drawing tens of thousands of music enthusiasts. While fans across the country had spent weeks competing in fierce online booking rushes, certain admirers chose to head straight to the stadium gates to test their luck in person. Among the gathered crowd, two students from Jamia Millia Islamia managed to turn an impossible situation into an unexpected success.
The Search Outside Gate Number 14
Hundreds of empty-handed fans assembled outside Gate Number 14 of the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, lingering near the ticket collection booths after failing to secure passes during digital sales. Everyone in the gathering was searching for attendees who might carry extra entry passes. Standing amid this bustling crowd were two university students, Wahib and Tanzeem. Neither carried an advance pass into the venue, and between them, their total collective budget amounted to just 4,000 rupees.
Bargaining Over 20,000 Rupee Gold Passes
Outside the venue gates, two women were attempting to sell two spare Gold Section passes. With taxes included, the original retail value of these two passes stood at approximately 20,000 rupees. The sellers initially asked for the full 20,000 rupees to recoup their cost. When prospective buyers hesitated to meet that sum, they lowered the asking price to 10,000 rupees, yet bystanders continued to negotiate. Stepping into the conversation, Wahib and Tanzeem laid out their genuine circumstances, candidly stating that they were hostel students who only possessed 4,000 rupees in total and could not stretch their finances any further.
A Generous Decision for Hostel Students
Even though several other individuals in the vicinity were actively willing to pay well above 4,000 rupees, one of the women made an unusual choice. She recognized that for young students surviving on strict monthly allowances inside university hostels, parting with 4,000 rupees was already a meaningful financial sacrifice. Smiling warmly, she remarked that helping students would do good, handing both coveted Gold Section passes directly to Wahib and Tanzeem for the 4,000 rupees they held. What began as an uncertain gamble outside Gate Number 14 culminated in the two young fans watching their musical idol perform live on stage.
