Addressing the controversy surrounding The Sabarmati Report, a film centered around the tragic 2002 Godhra train burning incident involving the Sabarmati Express, Massey expressed immense pride in the project. Despite the filmmakers' intent to depict the painful historic tragedy, detractors quickly labeled the film as propaganda. Consequently, Massey was subjected to relentless online abuse. The situation escalated dramatically when malicious individuals leaked his private WhatsApp contact number and personal vehicle registration details on the internet, leading to direct and open threats against him.

Massey highlighted that these privacy violations and hostile threats occurred during an exceptionally vulnerable period in his personal life.
