Achieving instant box office dominance with a debut project is an exceptionally rare feat in cinema, yet writer-director Vishal Chaturvedi has pulled it off decisively with his first feature film, 'Hanuman Ansh'. Inspired by the life of Baba Neem Karoli, the spiritual film continues to command attention in movie theatres even after completing 89 days of its theatrical run. Domestically, the movie has accumulated a net collection of over Rs 342 crore in India. On the global stage, its worldwide gross receipts have crossed an impressive Rs 453 crore. With this consistent theatrical performance, Chaturvedi has officially outpaced the commercial benchmarks established by some of the most celebrated debut directors in recent Indian cinema history.
Surpassing the Benchmarks of 'Uri' and 'Stree'
Box office tracking figures illustrate that 'Hanuman Ansh' has carved out an extraordinary trajectory compared to modern blockbusters. Vishal Chaturvedi's maiden directorial effort has moved ahead of the final collections of Aditya Dhar's 'Uri: The Surgical Strike' and Amar Kaushik's breakout film 'Stree'. Historical trade records indicate that 'Uri' had gathered a net domestic haul of approximately Rs 245 crore in India, wrapping up its worldwide theatrical run at roughly Rs 342 crore.
Meanwhile, Amar Kaushik's directorial venture 'Stree' had closed its domestic box office run with a net total of around Rs 130 crore, while registering a global tally of nearly Rs 182 crore. 'Hanuman Ansh' has comfortably surpassed both of these titles across domestic and international markets alike. Through this runaway commercial victory, the doctor-turned-filmmaker has instantly marked his presence as a notable commercial storyteller in the Indian film industry.
From a Slow Opening to an Unstoppable Box Office Surge
The box office journey of 'Hanuman Ansh' did not start as an instant explosion; its theatrical debut was relatively subdued during the initial days. However, as the film entered its third week, having completed its first 2 weeks in theatres, it picked up massive momentum that continues to endure. Sustaining footfalls and holding screens across a multi-month run has resulted in handsome financial rewards for the project's producers.
Maintaining active cinema screenings nearly three months after release underscores the enduring connection the film has established with moviegoers. The steady revenue run proves that deeply rooted spiritual narratives, when executed with creative conviction and impactful presentation, hold immense commercial potential on a wide scale. Trade observers credit this triumph to Chaturvedi's narrative clarity and conviction in the material. Crafting a commercially viable, widely accepted film on his very first attempt represents a significant career milestone for the filmmaker.
Upcoming Project 'Rambola' to Focus on Goswami Tulsidas
Following the widespread recognition of 'Hanuman Ansh', Vishal Chaturvedi has already commenced preparations for his next directorial outing, titled 'Rambola'. The upcoming production will revolve around the life and spiritual journey of the revered poet-saint Goswami Tulsidas. The project is being jointly produced by Mahaveer Jain, Vishal Chaturvedi, and Raghuvendra Singh. Production and filming for 'Rambola' are slated to begin early next year, setting high expectations for what the director will deliver following his record-setting debut.
