Madhya Pradesh's Shivpuri district is set to become one of the country's biggest defence manufacturing hubs. At a large event held at the city's Pologround on Sunday, Chief Minister Dr Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia jointly laid the foundation stone for the Adani Defence and Aerospace Manufacturing Plant. The project is expected to cost around ₹2,500 crore and will come up near Pali village in the Kolaras area of Shivpuri. The Chief Minister said the plant would ensure Shivpuri's name is recognised not just across Madhya Pradesh or India, but on the global stage as well.
Plant to Be Ready Within Three Years
The facility being built by the Adani Group is expected to be fully operational within the next three years. Once ready, it will manufacture advanced missiles along with ammunition and other defence equipment. Before the foundation stone ceremony, CM Mohan Yadav and Union Minister Scindia inspected an exhibition set up at the venue, where the Adani Group had displayed models of modern weapons and defence equipment. Officials briefed the two leaders on the kind of defence products the factory would produce, the technology involved, and its manufacturing capacity, making clear that this is meant to function as a complete defence manufacturing ecosystem rather than a single unit.
Scindia Says Weapons Made Here Will Give Enemies a Fitting Response
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia said that, God forbid, but whenever the country needs to go to war to defend itself, weapons and ammunition made in Shivpuri will reach the nation's borders. He said the weapons built through the hard work of the youth here will pierce the enemy's chest, and the ammunition produced here will help defeat the enemy. During the same event, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav also inaugurated and laid the foundation for various other development works worth more than ₹211 crore in Shivpuri, adding further momentum to development in the region.
Plan to Create Jobs for 1.2 Lakh People by 2030
Adani Group Director Jeet Adani, who was present at the event, said that the group's chairman Gautam Adani had announced an investment of ₹1,10,000 crore in Madhya Pradesh a few years ago. He said this entire investment would be made across sectors such as pumped hydro storage, cement, mining, logistics and thermal energy. Jeet Adani added that the group's goal is to create employment for close to 1,20,000 people in Madhya Pradesh by the year 2030, which will also include jobs linked to the defence factory, underlining that the plant's impact will extend well beyond defence production into the state's broader economy and local job market.
Shivpuri to Become Part of Asia's Largest Missile Ecosystem
The defence factory is being described as one of the largest such facilities in South Asia. That is why Shivpuri district is expected to emerge, in the coming years, as part of Asia's largest missile ecosystem. Once operational, the plant will produce not just missile systems but a range of other defence products linked to ammunition, helping meet the country's defence requirements while strengthening Shivpuri's identity as an industrial and strategic centre.
